Introduction
This guide helps you when a user cannot be created in Contract Management, Vendor Management, Spend Analytics or a connected application.
Problem description
Creating a user usually fails because the username is not unique. When two environments run on the same server, a username is available only once. If username ABC123 already exists in Test, that same name can no longer be used in Production.
Whether environments share a server is shown in the link of the environment. In https://XX.vendorlink.nl, the XX part must differ to use ABC123 twice.
Signals
- The new user cannot be saved.
- The username does not appear on the Users tab, but is still rejected.
Checking whether the username already exists
Go to:
Admin > General settings > Users > User Management
Users
This tab shows the active users. Move the toggle to the right to Archived to see the archived users. If the username appears here, unarchive the user or create a new, unique username.
Supplier Portal user
Check whether the username appears here. If it does, change the username on the contact person listed with the supplier. That makes the new username unique again.
API-only users and Profiles
Finally, check whether the username appears on the API-only users tab or under the Profiles tab.
When to contact support
If the username appears on none of the tabs and creating it still fails, contact support. State the username, the environment and the error message.
