When posting invoices in AP Automation, the message "ERP connection error" may appear. In most cases, this is because the Client Secret in Azure has expired.

4.1 Navigation
Go to:
Azure Portal → Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) → App registrations
4.2 Steps
1. Find the correct application
Find the application used for the ERP connection.
2. Open Certificates & secrets
Open the application and go to Certificates & secrets.
3. Check the expiry date
Check the Expires column for the Client Secret. If this shows a date in the past, the Client Secret has expired.
5. Creating a new Client Secret (if expired)
5.1 Steps
1. Start creating
Click on New Client Secret.
2. Provide a description
Provide a clear description, for example "ERP connection Secret value".
3. Choose a validity period
Preferably choose 12 or 24 months.
4. Confirm
Click Add.
5. Copy the value immediately
6. Creating a ticket with ISPnext
- Create a ticket via the ISPnext Help Centre
- Mention that the Client Secret for the ERP connection has been renewed
- Share the new Client Secret value with the Support department via the ticket
7. What happens after creating the ticket
The ISPnext Support department updates the Client Secret in the ERP configuration and tests the ERP connection again. You will receive a response about this via the ticket.
8. Best practices
- Renew the Client Secret before the current one expires to prevent a new ERP connection error
- Set a reminder for the expiry date in your own calendar or ticket system
- If in doubt, always check the expiry date in Azure first before creating a ticket
