This functionality makes it possible to perform an additional check within ISPnext on the combination of a name and a bank account number. This significantly reduces the chance of errors in payments or creditor management and the risk of fraud with account numbers. The integration uses the SurePay service, which performs a real-time check on the accuracy of the name/IBAN combination.
When to use it?
This functionality is useful when:
- New suppliers are created or existing suppliers are modified.
- Payment details need to be verified with extra care.
- The organisation wants to minimise risks of incorrect payments.
- Contract or supplier management teams require additional assurance when processing bank details.
Example: when adding a new supplier, it is immediately checked whether the provided name matches the registered account holder.
How does it work?
Step 1: Set up the SurePay integration
⚠️
Note:
A valid SurePay licence must be acquired directly at SurePay. This is not supplied via ISPnext.

- Go to Admin → 3rd Party Integrations in ISPnext.
- Open the configuration for SurePay.
- Fill in the requested fields:
- BaseUrl
- ApiKey
- Secret
- Set the integration to Active.
- Choose Save.
The example below shows what this form looks like:
Step 2: Check name/account combination
Once the integration is active:
- Go to the supplier or contract party whose bank account needs to be checked.
- An extra button appears next to the bank account details to perform a SurePay check.
- Click this button to have the name/account combination checked via the SurePay service.
- The system then displays the result of the check.
Additional information
- ISPnext already checks by default whether an IBAN exists. This is more than just a format check: it verifies that the IBAN really exists.
- The SurePay integration adds an additional check: does the name match the account number?
- As a result, the chance of errors and fraud with account numbers is much smaller.
Practical tips
- Tip 1: Check that the SurePay licence is renewed on time. If the licence expires, the integration and thus the check (button) will not work.
- Tip 2: Always use the IBAN check when creating new suppliers to prevent issues later in the process.
- Tip 3: Ensure that users with supplier management rights are familiar with and apply the integration.
Common mistakes
- Entering incorrect API details: the integration appears active, but the check fails.
- Assuming that the standard IBAN check in the system also checks the name: this is not the case; a SurePay licence is needed for this.
